Tai Ping Houkui, honored as one of China’s “Top Ten Famous Teas”, is renowned for its unique appearance and elegant flavor. Originating from the foothills of Huangshan in Anhui Province, this tea has been prized since the Qing Dynasty and was once a tribute tea for the imperial court.

The tea is crafted from one bud with two leaves, carefully hand-picked during the spring season. The fresh leaves are pressed flat through traditional hand-shaping techniques, creating the signature “two leaves holding one bud” form. Each leaf can grow up to several centimeters long, yet remains tender and graceful, earning Tai Ping Houkui the name “King of Green Tea Leaves.”

When brewed, the dry leaves stand upright in the water, slowly spreading like an underwater orchid in bloom. The liquor is a bright jade-green with a slight golden hue, exuding a refreshing orchid fragrance combined with subtle vegetal and fruity notes. The taste is smooth, mellow, and slightly sweet, leaving a clean and lasting aftertaste without bitterness or astringency.

Brewing Guide (Glass Cup Method):

Use 3–5 g of dry tea leaves

Add 250 ml of water at 80–85°C

First, add a small amount of water to moisten the leaves, then gently refill along the glass wall

Observe as the leaves slowly unfurl, releasing their fragrance and flavor

Can be infused 3–4 times, with a smooth and consistent taste
