Product Description
Wuyi rock tea, grown among the craggy cliffs and misty valleys of Mount Wuyi, is renowned for its signature “rock bone and floral fragrance”. Among them, Rougui (Cinnamon) stands as a classic cultivar, known for its bold aroma, powerful tea energy, and rich mineral character—often called “the soul of rock tea.”
This tea is made from old arbor tea trees in the authentic Zhengyan (core rock) region, hand-harvested in early spring. Using traditional semi-oxidized Wuyi processing and high-temperature charcoal roasting, the dry leaves are tightly rolled and dark with a subtle sheen. Once brewed, the liquor is deep amber-red, and the cinnamon-like aroma rises intensely from the gaiwan lid.
In aroma and flavor progression:
The first infusions highlight the iconic spicy, bark-like scent of cinnamon,
The middle steeps evolve into notes of licorice, wood, and layered roasted fragrance,
The later brews return to a deep mineral base—revealing the original terroir and “rock charm” of the tea.
The tea is full-bodied, vibrant, and penetrating, with a slight numbing sensation on the tongue, strong throat resonance, and a quick, lingering sweetness. It perfectly embodies the bold, structured style of classic Wuyi Rougui—“heavy in body, bright in aroma.”
Ideal for gongfu-style brewing in a gaiwan, this tea rewards the patient drinker with evolving complexity and lasting charm. A true pleasure for seasoned rock tea lovers.
